SnowMonitor is the first fully automated system for monitoring roof snow loads.

The system allows reducing the costs of building maintenance and at the same time improves its safety. Thanks to the networks applying the string sensors technology, it can monitor how roof elements react to changing snow loads. The collected data are analysed by means of an easy to use, online application that in any place in the world provides current information about the monitored roof.

Convenient use

SnowMonitor ensures fully automatic measurements. You do not have to climb the roof. To check the current roof load, it is enough to open a simple and easy to use application in your browser window.

Reliability

The installed sensors are service free (they neither need maintenance nor battery change) so can be mounted even in places of hard access. They guarantee measurements of high accuracy and over thirty-year usage.

Cost reduction

Knowing the current snow load on roof, you can abandon unnecessary snow clearances during the season. You can economize on clearing snow off the roof and removing roof damages and damages to lightning rod resulting from the clearance.

Safety

The system works the whole year and in case of hazard, users are alerted by a siren, sms or email. In addition, information about deformations of monitored construction elements allows evaluating the technical condition of the used building.

The applied string measurement technology makes the system reliable and resistant to interferences

Sensors that measure deformations of representative construction areas constitute basic elements of the system. The collected information is read by means of Local Measurement Modules and transmitted to Data Collection Centre (located within the monitored building). In Data Collection Centre, special measurement procedures process the data and compare them with threshold values for snow load, defined for every of the examined roof areas.

Where do savings come from?

Snow clearance itself usually costs a few or a dozen or so thousands of Polish zlotys. Unfortunately, it often happens that the total amount is higher since due to snow clearance, the roof and other installations mounted on it may get damaged. In contradiction to the most frequently used, however inaccurate methods of measuring the THICKNESS of snow cover, SnowMonitor compares the current snow LOAD on roof with the values provided for in the documentation of the construction object . . .

Calibration of measurement system

Once SnowMonitor has been installed on construction object, the system gets twice calibrated: first in summer and then in winter. In summer, the system is calibrated on the basis of calculation methods or a trial load on the monitored areas. All measurement areas, the number of which differs between one and a dozen or so, depending on the size of the construction, are calibrated.
